Many years ago, the land that became the Jupiter Inlet Colony was put down through regular dredging of the inlet. Only when this southern tip became wide enough to develop did it catch the eye of entrepreneurs Jock Whitney and Charlie Martyn, who after World War II purchased it. At first, the land was to be left undeveloped for Whitney’s own use, but Martyn later chose to build a village there. Perhaps some of you will recall that Jock Whitney’s sister, the philanthropist Joan Whitney Payson, was in 1962 a co-founder and the longtime owner of Major League Baseball’s New York Mets.
Living in the Jupiter Inlet Colony

There are no schools in Jupiter Inlet Colony, but there are many just over the bridge in the Town of Jupiter, all A-rated. Florida Atlantic University’s Honors College is also located in Jupiter.
